The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) approved financing for five new projects on July 6, 2026. The Board, chaired by President Dr George Agyekum Donkor, gave the green light during its 99th Ordinary Session.

The over USD 417 Million investments target critical sectors. Infrastructure, healthcare, housing, mining, and financial resilience will all benefit from this funding. The projects also aim to strengthen regional connectivity across West Africa.

« Our commitment remains unwavering, » Dr Donkor stated. « These investments will directly improve citizens’ lives across our community. »

Clean energy and transport infrastructure head the list. Healthcare facilities and housing projects will receive support. The mining sector and financial institutions will also gain from the approved operations.

The Bank expects these investments to stimulate economic growth. Job creation stands as a primary objective. The projects will improve quality of life throughout the region.

This follows EBID’s growth, resilience and Optimisation Strategy. The GRO strategy prioritizes transformative infrastructure and human capital development. Private sector growth and regional integration remain central pillars.

The Bank continues promoting sustainable development across West Africa. Shared prosperity drives the institution’s mission. These five projects represent concrete steps toward that vision.

EBID’s approvals advance regional competitiveness. The investments support inclusive growth. Communities across member states will ultimately benefit from these strategic initiatives.
