Burkina Faso: Budget 2027 puts the RELANCE Plan to the test of results
Burkina Faso is opening a new chapter in its economic policy with the draft state budget for 2027. At the heart of this orientation, the RELANCE Plan 2026-2030 outlines a roadmap that commits public finances to an ambition of national transformation. The figures announced by the government give the measure of this commitment: 4,220.4 billion CFA francs in expected revenues and 4,839.4 billion in planned expenditure.
This budgetary architecture reflects a desire to mobilize more resources to support national priorities. Revenues are expected to increase by 13.2% compared to the revised forecasts for 2026, an increase of 491.9 billion CFA francs. This development places the mobilization of domestic resources at the center of economic governance issues, in a context where the financing of public services, infrastructure and development policies requires increased capacity of the State.
Behind these amounts, one question is very important: how can budgetary choices be transformed into visible progress for the population? The answer lies in the quality of execution, the relevance of investments and the ability of administrations to translate the priorities of the RELANCE Plan into concrete achievements in close connection with the vision of the President of Burkina Faso.
The project forecasts an overall budget deficit of 619 billion CFA francs, or 2.9% of nominal GDP. This gap between revenue and expenditure underlines the scale of the financing needs. It calls for rigorous management of resources, a clear prioritization of expenditures, and careful monitoring of public commitments. The challenge is to maintain coherence between development ambitions and the resources available.
In this perspective, the 2027 budget is a central instrument for the conduct of public action. The performance indicators, the rate of execution of investments, the time taken to complete projects and the effects of expenditure on living conditions make it possible to assess the extent already carried out.
