The 4-Août Stadium was alive with a special energy this Thursday morning. Before thousands of conscripts gathered for the closing ceremony of the 2026 Compulsory Patriotic Immersion program, Captain Ibrahim Traoré stepped up to the podium—not as a commander inspecting his troops, but as someone who knew his words could leave a lifelong impact on these young people.

For one month, the 65,000 participants in this year’s program trained at the school, receiving an education that went beyond basic civic lessons to something deeper: building a new relationship with themselves, with others, and with their nation. Whether from cities or villages, universities or workshops, they all shared the same transformative experience—learning to see themselves as Burkinabè before seeing themselves as individuals.

The President of Burkina Faso offered them three guiding values at the heart of the Progressive People’s Revolution—principles that reflect the vision for humanity and society behind his leadership.

The first is intellectual humility, described not as weakness but as a strategic necessity. Refusing to learn, understand the world, or grasp geopolitics, he said bluntly, is ignorance—and in today’s Burkina Faso, ignorance is more than a lack of knowledge; it’s a threat to the Revolution. It’s his way of telling the 65,000 young people that patriotic passion without intelligence is a weapon with no aim.

The second value is solidarity, seen as an essential trait of a true patriot—not the showy kind displayed in public, but the kind lived out daily through small acts, helping others, and staying aware .
