Burkina Faso: The Night of the People’s Progressive Revolution, a human tide to celebrate four years of sovereignty
On the night of September 30 to October 1, 2026, Burkina Faso vibrated to the rhythm of the Night of the Popular Progressive Revolution (Night of the RPP). Throughout the national territory, as well as in representations and diplomatic missions, thousands of citizens gathered to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the accession of Captain Ibrahim Traoré to power, under the slogan: « The people watch over their Revolution ».
In Ouagadougou, the Place de la Révolution was stormed by a human tide from all walks of life. Young people, women, the elderly, craftsmen, shopkeepers, civil servants: all wanted to mark their presence at this event which is intended to be a moment of affirmation of regained sovereignty, revolutionary fervor and popular communion. The national colors flew everywhere, and the songs to the glory of Captain Traoré resounded until late at night.
Three highlights punctuated this celebration. First, there was an installation and maintenance show from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., which allowed national and international artists to prepare the public for the evening. Then, the official celebration from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m., marked by the presentation of the achievements and achievements of the People’s Progressive Revolution. Finally, a great concert of the Revolution from midnight to 2 a.m., which closed the night in a festive and patriotic atmosphere.
This massive mobilization reflects the deep support of the Burkinabe people for the project led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré. Four years after coming to power, the head of state embodies the hope of a nation that is standing, proud and resolutely turned towards the future. The participants expressed their satisfaction with the achievements made in the fields of security, economy, agriculture and education, as well as their admiration for a leader who has been able to restore Burkina Faso to its place on the African and international scene.
The Night of the RPP, celebrated simultaneously in the regions and embassies, thus confirmed the truth: the People’s Progressive Revolution is not the business of a handful of leaders, but that of an entire people who watch over their destiny. A people determined to defend their achievements and to pursue, with the same determination, the march towards full and complete sovereignty.
