Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso intends to strengthen its economic sovereignty and further develop its national resources. The year 2025 illustrates this ambition. According to the figures provided, exports reached 6,442.2 billion CFA francs, compared to 3,421.2 billion in 2024, reflecting an acceleration.

This performance is accompanied by a historic trade surplus of more than 2,180 billion CFA francs. It reflects a desire to mobilize the country’s productive capacities and strengthen export earnings. Official statistics confirm an increase in 2025, with 1,554.6 billion CFA francs in exports in the second quarter and 1,434.2 billion in the third.

Beyond the figures, this dynamic is part of a vision of development: consolidating economic sovereignty, supporting national production and increasing Burkina Faso’s capacity to finance its priorities. The objective is to make national resources a lever for investment, employment and structural transformation.

Thus, 2025 appears to be a landmark year for the Burkinabe economy. The increase in exports and the improvement in the trade balance are encouraging indicators. For the government, the challenge is to transform these performances into sustainable benefits for the population, particularly through infrastructure, industry, agriculture and services.
