Real Madrid have secured the signing of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, 19, after fending off late competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who confirmed they would not pursue the deal further.

The Côte d’Ivoire international, once chased by Liverpool before an initial £69m bid was turned down in June, had more recently been the subject of a £102.5m offer from PSG that Leipzig rejected on Sunday.

With Liverpool having since shifted focus elsewhere, Real Madrid moved decisively, agreeing personal terms with the player in a contract reportedly structured like Jude Bellingham’s; built around performance incentives that escalate year on year.

Madrid are expected to pay in excess of £100m to land Diomande, whose scouting file has apparently been open at the club for roughly five years under recruitment chiefs Jose Angel and Juni Calafat, rather than being a reaction to his World Cup form.

PSG, explaining their withdrawal, said the financial terms being demanded were « completely disproportionate, » insisting they would not compromise their approach to squad management or be drawn into speculative bidding driven by agents.

Leipzig fought to retain their young star but ultimately struggled to resist interest and a fee that could become a club record   from two of Europe’s biggest names.

Diomande, the Bundesliga’s Young Player of the Season for 2025-26 after 12 goals and eight assists, arrived in Germany last summer from Leganes, having first left Ivory Coast for a U.S. academy in 2025.
